Not the same thing, but an interesting GB experience, anyway....I once ended a GB no reserve auction with bids on it near the end when a potential bidder informed me that one of my photos was of a different pistol. I emailed the high bidder of my intent (& why), and contacted GB. As people on this thread have commented, it did count as a completed auction. Soon after relisting (with the correct photos) I received a positive feedback (for being honest) from the first "winning " bidder (who did not bid again), a credit from GB and a much higher price the second time around.

My experience on GB is to treat people the way they want to be treated & it will pay off.
