Well, it seems that the stock market isn't the only thing up lately (smile!) I can't believe what Simpsons is asking for a Mauser BYF 42 Luger Rig--OVER $4,000 ($4,250 to be exact)!! Come on a 42 BYF is certainly not scarce or rare even in high grade. I have one that is in as good or better shape than this one on the Simpson What's New Page:

I paid $1,300 for mine about three (3) years ago (from FGS) added a spare magazine $100 tool $45 nicer holster $275 complete rig $1,720.00. Don't I wish I had a few extra to SELL!
I collect and focus on Walther WWII waffenamt marked PPs and PPKs at this time because there is much greater value and potential than a common Luger like this and my BYF 42. I just recently bought a Walther 9mmK BMR E/WaA359 with matching serial numbered magazine for way less that the Simpson Luger above (even if you strip out the value of the spare mag, tool and holster). This, it is claimed, was a Luftwaffe PP. There was only around 1500 so marked and it is in very high collectible grade. It was produced in 1941 so earlier than the BYF 42 Luger. Look how many of the BYF 42 Lugers were produced and accepted by the military. I know there is more demand for Lugers but you can find a BYF 42 Luger in high grade anytime--they are common. It took me three years to find this Walther Luftwaffe PP pistol. I will stick with the WWII vintage military Walther PPs and PPKs and hope the same price appreciation blesses these Walther pistols like what has happened to the WWII military Lugers!
