If you have tried other mags with the same result. that pretty well rules out the magazine aspect.

It sounds like the main spring is pretty ridged. It's probably not allowing the bolt to retract far enough to engage the hold open. What kind of ammo are you using?

You might try checking with Tom Heller , forum name "lugerdoc". He has Wolf spring kits for sale. It may require a different main spring to function properly.
