I'll second that.
I bought an old 6.5X55 with the bore looked like 10 mile of bad road. I got it for a song with thoughts of a new custom barrel. A good friend told me to clean it and try it out before I did anything . It scrubbed it for a week and shot one of my best groups ever. I still kick myself for letting him talk me out of it.
