What are the markings on the right of your 1936 S/42 (then someone can tell you "exactly" which tool is correct.

Don't store the holsters in plastic, it will trap moisture. I checked mine after getting back from NH, several had mold on them. That white powdery stuff, it seems to crop up easily on its own and wipes right off. No one seems to know the rigth way to get rid of it, some say, put it in the freezer for a couple of months, but I haven't seen that work

I also like the 45, carried one for 2/3rds of my career as an MP, so I eventually picked up a couple...
