Hi,

The East-Germans used suppliers numbers, kinda like the Germans used the 3-letter codes before and during the war. The East-German supplier numbers (lieferernummer) were 4-digits long. '1001' was the number assigned to the former Haenel works.

Haenel also produced a version of the Walther PP/PPK, dubbed 'pistole 1001', again referring to Haenel as manufacturer.

I have not heard of a proper explanation of the '2' on the magazine, but my best guess is that it's there to distinguish between the magazine of the Pistole 1001 and that of the P08.
