A very fine Luger and excellent presentation. My only comment on your writeup relates to your statement (and I admit it is a nit-pick):

DWM adopted the format of numbering in blocks of 9,999 with a letter suffix for their "commercial" production beginning in 1921 so there really wasn't a distinction between the military and commercial formats past this date. The numbering of small parts, as well as the proofing as you point out, for the Alphabet and 29 DWMs was, however, in the commercial style.
