I at first thought it was a repro navy rear toggle, because they have the flat sides like that. But given the pitting that is still visible after refinish, I think it may be an original toggle that was heavily pitted and the knobs were faced back and re-checkered like the repros. I wish there was a clear side-on shot of the sight that would help identify it a little better, but I get the impression that it is an original sight.
