Hi Charlie,

You might be right about the inside. Possibly some old shellac to help keep it a bit more water-proof ?

I have a very nice 1918 holster that looks like it has a patent-leather finish on the exterior but "raw" leather along the inside surfaces.

BTW...this holster went for over $ 525 and was picked up by one of the LF members.
