The only grips I have seen with the holes in the back like that were not original, I believe they are holes for a duplicating machine. The grips I have observed with the holes were all very well fitting and matched wood however. These grips are different because they are of different wood, and although they look old and worn and have inspection and sn marks, I am not sure of their authenticity.

The other pair are nice original WWII Mauser grips and probably worth $80, although with the stain I'd try to talk him down a little. Often dark water stains like this can be bleached out.
