Wayne, welcome to the forum! Yes, we'd like pictures and full serial number, to include suffix on the front of the frame. However, i can tell you a lot from the info you gave me;

1940 is the year it was accepted into service
42 is the code for Mauser, who made the luger in 1940

Eagle 655 is the proof and acceptance markings
