My uncle had an MP40 that he mailed home from Italy during WW2 while serving under Patton in a Tank recovery crew. I remember being allowed to handle it a couple of times when I was a kid. At his funeral a few years ago I asked my cousin whatever happened to it. No one seems to know. It just quit being around one day, probably late 1970s. I'll bet it was never amnestied and I suppose it could be buried somewhere on the Idaho Farm.
