The last 06-style American Eagle in the database is sn68977; the first 1914-style with a commercial serial number is sn70319. It looks like the onset of the war ended 1906 American Eagle production.

I haven't sorted the Tauscher numbers that way, sounds like a good idea to confirm it. It is worthwhile noting that, while the Tauscher record show -sales- 1913-1917 (Costanzo documents 1913-1914), These guns were manufactured as early as 1909 and in large, continuous number ranges throughout the commercial series until 1914.

I'm not Pete, but my guess is that this gun was never in Switzerland, that at some point it needed a sideplate and it was forced number matched by someone who had no clue about different sideplate styles.
