That is an easy speach to make when you are wearing a bunch of stars and will not be in the first wave or any other waves for that matter.

My dad jumped in the night before with the 506th and had to listen to the same jive.

In 1968 I sat in some bleachers at 5th SFG in Nha Trang and heard virtually the same thing-about 50 of us were told that a year later some of us would be dead and it was true.

We knew this but it is something else to sit and have to listen to it.

We were volunteers to a man and most of us did more than one tour but all that speechifying is for wannabees and people never on the recieving end.

38 years later I say I did my time as asked plus a bit more and that is all there is to it.
