Hello Tim, welcome to the forum! I moved your thread to new collectors, as the subject is more open than just military related. This has been discussed, although I don't know where the heck it is!

Anyway, you could end up with 3 or or books to learn about.

#1 book I would want is Imperial Lugers by Jan Still, however it is out of print right now.

Older books, such as Jones, or Datig can be found on e-bay and are good to read, but both are out of date by many years.

Kenyon's Lugers at Random is okay too, some like it very much, and it would be a good one and can be found for less than $75.00 on line.

Walters books are good, but more specific, he has one that is very enclyopedic that I find good, but not as a first book, however his other one, the Luger Story, is educational and worthwhile to read.
