SAFETY GLASSES REMINDER!

Just put a half inch dent in my den ceiling. Removed a couple of firing pins to compare them and for some reason one of the guides stuck and then when I released pressure on it..'twing'..it bounced off the ceiling and landed on top of a bookcase. Wear safety glasses when you do even those little things that you do all the time. This could have been a real tragedy, seriously.

Re: SAFETY GLASSES REMINDER!

Ever seen the safety video "Remember Charlie" A tragedy in the life of an Exxon worker that was badly burned because he didnt wear his safety equipment because it was uncomfortable and didnt look Macho enough! After seeing that movie, EVERY time and I mean EVERY time I reach for motor tool, I reach for the safety goggles FIRST and FOREMOST! It is TOO damn late after an injury, maiming or death to worry about it then! SAFETY is not funny, it is serious and can keep you alive, well and unharmed. Lugers pack some of the most powerful springs imaginable, even that rasterfackerrooneycalistampereachus#$%^&(*@@@ main spring! Dont be sorry later, be safe now and protect your eyes and hands! Re: AMEN!

Years ago, before I knew what I was doing, I too had a PO8 firing pin retainer wizz by my head and put a healthy chip in a plate glass window of the shop where I was working. I'll you don't own protective glass, at least point things in a safe direction.

Re: SAFETY GLASSES REMINDER!

I can't tell you how many times I've bounced a barrel bushing from an Astra Model 400 or 600 off the ceiling when I lost control of it while disassembling one of those pistols (Mother of All Recoil Springs, those). Once, when dissembling a SxS shotgun, I lost control of a hammer spring (big leaf spring) and spent an hour down on my hands and knees on the shop floor looking for it. I finally found it - lodged in the ceiling!

Safety glasses have my vote.

Best regards,

Kyrie

Kyrie, if they are prescription safety glasses does that mean

that you will look up and see the launched part imbedded in the ceiling sooner than an hour (LOL).

This was a Great safety antecdote!
