Yep, Jan Still's Weimar Lugers, page 207, 208,247-251
Notice I was the first bidder, hahaha, lots of fakes of these, only 11 Erfurts known from Still's book. Good luck! I dont intend to bid anymore on it! Thor (Bergie)

Hi,
Lots of fakes in these -- As I have been told, the real ones have larger than normal numbers on the receiver and toggles and are not over a 3 digit serial number.

A lot of the fakes are made from Simson's. They use some old Simson, put on a maching Erfurt toggle, and remove a few of the acceptance proofs, stamp a Kl. 1933 on the chamber, refinish it, put on some wear, and presto -- a rare gun. Trouble is the serial numbers are too high and not big enough.

What is your opinion of the two 1925 Simson's on Gunbroker and are they correct? Good collecting!

I watched those two Simsons right up to the last bid. I thought about getting into the bidding but I have a Simson and the bidding got too high. Aarron Davis' book The Luger Handbook places a value of $1975 (1997 time) on one in good condition so both were very good buys, assuming the stripped one was refurbished. From the pictures they both appeared to be original outside, hard to tell if everything inside was also matching, but that is what the three day inspection period is for. I would think they both will undergo total redo's and will hit the market as all original in the future. For reference and future watchout the stripped one was #5298 and the one with about 75-80% blue was #1390. Both are dated 1925.

Is the current thinking for "KI" now "Kl" (for Konzentrationlager...forgive my spelling...), thus lugers used for guards at some concentration camps ?

Pete... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />
