Unit-marked C96/1916 "Red nine".
Hello!
I own a Mauser C96/1916 with an old unit-marking. What does "P.L.16.118." mean?? Picture on the link: http://www.blinkskudd.net/Album/imag...l/000_0260.jpg |
Hi P,
Most likely it translates to Polezi Landau, Admistrative district 16, weapon 16. Landau is a wonderful town in the southern part of the Rheinland Pfalz (I think; maybe in Baden Wurrtenberg, I forget) with some wonderful restaurants and great ambiance. Great food; amazing beer and lovely vistas. Tom A. |
Thanks!
But the guy's on the other forum said: "It is most likely imperial army and according to Noll P.L. signifies: Landwehr-Pionier-Bataillon"?? |
I will defer to Jeff; he is the acknowledged expert on markings.
