I bought a mismatched shooter awhile back it is an early gun without the hold open serial number is 86 with no letter suffix. It is also unit marked "B.14.R.M.G.2." It came with a commercial .30 Luger top. It is also export stamped with the "GERMANY" on the left rail above the tack down bolt.

B.14.R.M.G.2 I believe the B is for Bavarian 14th Machine Gun Regiment, Weapon #2 Just a guess

Good guess, you are almost correct. B.14.R.M.G.2. signifies: Bavarian 14. Infantry Regiment, Machine gun Company weapon no. 2. During WWI it was part of the 5th and 16th Bavarian Division.
