Unusual marking seen
All,
In rambling through Alabama, came across 1916 DWM Army, about 85%, priced waaay too high. Interesting markings..100 R (Scriptic)3.1, which I make as 100th Infantry regiment, third company, weapon number 1. The markings were small, delicate and uniform; looked like they were pantographed. Anyone ever seen markings like this? Tom A Wasting away in Huntsgaritaville |
The script R makes it a reserve infantry unit. I haven't seen any Imperial era Lugers that had pantographed unit markings, but I have seen small size letter and number stampings.

I just picked up a 1916 as part of a 36 gun collection that I am selling. The unit mark on it is small and uniform but certainly stamped.

I will ask the owner for permission to photo the thing.
