Recovered Golden Saber...
 

If you have seen my video of "Luger vs the Milk Jug". Here is a picture of the 102gr Golden Saber that created the show. It passed through the milk jug and into a catalog. It fell out when I picked up the catalog. I thought it mushroomed pretty good...

This is a pretty amazing modern designed bullet. The 102 gr Golden Saber will expand very well at reduced PPK 380 Auto velocities.

To display my ignorance, are these sold as complete cartridges or as bullets for reloading? Who is the manufacturer? In other words, how does one get these? I have seen very few 9mm bullets expand like this.

Steve, Remington makes these are made with a brass jacket. They are sold as a component or as loaded ammo. You can buy them as components from Midway USA. See link! They also make a 124 gr 9mm bullet as well. I shoot the 165 gr 40 caliber bullet in my 10mm Glock 29 and had some incredible field tests with it.

Here is what I posted about the 10mm 165 Golden Saber fired from a Glock 29 (3 &3/4") barrel.
I totally head over heels in love with my GLock 29. ACCURATE, a SWEET firing, I loved it! 9 grs of Blue Dot were ejecting in a sweet pile about 1.5 feet away. The 11 gr load was ejecting 12' away.....whoaaaaa Nelly!!!! Too far I guess for the spring but a great load. These were Remington's 165 gr Golden Saber bullet. I then fired the 11 gr load into a 6" thick phone book that was totally soaking wet with water BACKED with a steel Pig siloette target to attempt a bullet capture. This target was 25 YDS away. The round left a 5" diameter massive permanent hole in the back of the book, then I recovered the Saber JAcket that was totally flat and sharp on the Saber pedals, about 1" in diameter and pretty much intact. The core continued on and knocked the silloettte over and then richocetted off the ground some 50 yds behind the target. The siloette weighs around 35 pounds. I was so shocked over the destruction power of this load, the wet lap looked like a magnum hit it.
Very few times in my life have I been so totally happy with a load and a weapon! IT WAS AWESOME!
AND IN ANOTHER LATER POST I SAID:
Shot the load today to see if DENIM would plug the hollow point-NOPE! Four layers of denim in front of wet lap, penetration was 15" Hollow point with those thick saber pedals was 0.75" in diameter, mushroom was 0.9" tall. I would hate to get smacked by one of these.

Just for information, Remington makes the Golden Saber hollow point in three bullet weights suitable for the 9mm Luger. They dont make any 30 caliber pistol bullets in this design. There are 102 gr (actually loaded by Remington in the 380 Auto), the 124 gr (my personal favorite GS bullet for the 9mm Luger) and the 147 gr. These have a reduced bullet section (smaller diameter) in the front section so only the rear of the bullet is bearing on the bore and grooves. This pushs the center of gravity of the bullet rearward just like a hollow point and is supposed to help with stabilization (lack of yaw or nose wobble) and accuracy. This is an advanced design bullet and expands well over a large range of velocities and in different mediums. I really like the fact that none of the GS I have shot would plug up when shot through denim (levi pants. Some older designs I tried would plug up and not expand and over penetrate much like a solid bullet. These are decidedly a personal defense bullet. That is truly impressive, how well do these function in the Parabellum? any hang ups? currently I'm using 124gr hornady xtp bullets, but I've never actually tested them for expansion. How do these two stack up? TOm

I've used the 102gr and 124gr Golden Sabers in my byf 42. The 124gr seem to be the least choosy about overall length, in a good magazine. The 102gr like to be seated out, and I give it a good taper crimp to hold it in place good. In my best magazine, they feed great, but is their performance that makes them a winner. On another note a friend of mine has a Glock 17, and it shoots the smallest groups I've seen from a ordinary production handgun using the 102gr. Golden Sabers. I watched him shoot one group that I could cover with the end of my index (trigger) finger. Needless to say, he ordered 500 more so I could load up some more for him!!!
