K-date
Hello,
Do any K-dates have magazines with wooden bottoms? Luger in questions is a K-date, serial 1422, with matching mag but with wood rather than aluminum base. Am suspicious that if wood is not possible, it suggests that the gun itself may be altered to appear as a K. Your responses gratefully received! Thanks, David |
Re: K-date
In my opinion K-dated lugers does always have aluminium-bottoms and nickel-bodies.

Re: K-date
David, I can find no references to a K date having been issued with a wooden bottom magazine. All that I have seen that are correct have alloy based magazines. The rest of the pistol may be 100% correct, though. Either way, when you see something that just doesn't seem right (even though it may be) it should trigger your internal alarm. It's a hassle, because it forces one to really check out the piece more carefully..something we should all do anyway.

Re: K-date
The wood base is not correct for a K-date. 1422 is an early gun and should more than likely have O:37 on the base with an S -- possibly a B/90 as it is close to the transition from 1st to second variation. A K-date in mint condition is very, very seldom seen.
