Extraction/Ejection Failure
My shooter P.08 has an ejection/extraction problem that gradually gets worse, and I'd appreciate advice about fixing it.
Occasionally a case remains in the chamber when the action cycles but more frequently the case extracts and doesn't eject. The unejected case lies parallel to the bore and stops the action from closing on the unfired round feeding from the magazine. The pistol's springs are new. The ejector tip is not damaged, and the ejector moves freely when following the bolt. The extractor also appears undamaged. It moves freely unless I apply pressure from the right or left. Then it becomes rather gritty. With the toggles in battery and the chamber empty it also moves freely but on rare occasion will not fully close. The pistol has a replacement barrel. Thanks for your suggestions. |
Hi Freisch¼tz ...
What ammo are you shooting??? I've experienced the same withe some "white box" ammo..? |
FS, The easiest fix to try, per Rick above, is different ammo and magazines. If this doesn't cure your problems and your extractor & ejector are in spec, the next things to consider are the headspace &/or the recoil spring. TH

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll check the extractor this week.
With regard to ammunition, I'm using Fiocchi 115gr factory, and handloaded ammunition. The handloads use Federal, Winchester or Remington cases. The load is 5.3-5.5 gr Unique. The bullet is a 124 gr truncated cast bullet from an NEI mould. I size the cast bullets to .357" diameter, and the cartridge's overall length is 30mm. I might also say that the Fiocchi is the cleanest burning ammunition I've used. The gas system of my P7 requires little maintenance with it. |
