Metal Case Bullets...
Hello All,
I am contemplating getting (trying) some Remington UMC 9mm ammo. Can anyone tell me what a "Metal Case" bullet is? How does it compare to the "normal" FMJs? Does this type of bullet have any adverse effects on barrel? Just checking with the expert before risking putting crappy ammo through my toys!! Thanks a lot in advance for the comments Marc |
A metal case bullet and a full metal jacket bullet are one and the same thing. This is what the Luger was designed to shoot in the first place.
With today's commercial loads the jacket on a FMJ and a hollow point will be about the same, no difference to the barrel. Some military surplus ammo may have a steel jacket that may or may not be a trifle harder on the barrel. (Not all steel jacket material is hard on the barrel.) A plain lead bullet will reduce the wear on the barrel. But I know of no factory ammo loaded with plain lead. |
And lead -may- cause misfeeds and jams.

Why don't you try copper coated bullets? works great, no leading,no fumes..
