.30 accuracy?

Many correspondents here prefer the .30 Luger for its purported superior accuracy. Is there any documented information concerning the inherent accuracy of the .30 Luger round relative to 9mm Parabellum?

This is an educated guess, but I'd think that with equal care in bullet fit to bore and general load developement it would be a horse race. Especially at 50 feet from a Ransom rest.

For long range practical work, the 7.65 would have a little higher velocity, hence less drop. The 9 mm velocity is in the trans-sonic region which means it will be affected more by a cross wind. The 7.65 is fast enough to get out of this region. The 7.65 has a little less recoil hence less jump to disturb the aim.

Hi all ! from experience , I can say .30 L¼ger is more accurate than most 9 mm, at least I never shot an ammo that was not. but with the correct ammo, 9 mm are equally accurate. should we say that there is more quality ammo in .30 than in 9 mm ? I could notice this phenomenon in Parabellum and SIG P 210 pistols.

9mm para is a very accurate cartridge if its loaded correctly.
With a good bullt such as Hornady XTP or Norma TC the accuracy is second to nothing.

If you have a barrel that has a slower twist than the normal for a 9mm, you can shoot lead bullets with extremely good accuracy.

Hello,

Accuracy in 30 cal has given me 1 1/2 in groups @ 50 yds from a 1900AE & old Western ammo. I did similar groups ( just a tad wider ) with a 1920 3 7/8 in bbl & WW Super X ball ammo.

9mm: Best was around 1 1/2 in group @ 25 yds from various P-08's with factory & reloaded ammo. P-38's : well! it's not even worth mention as they are poor shooters, accuracy wise....

Best accuracy I ever had with a factory pistol in 9mm was 7/8 in @ 25 yds from a H&K P7M8...

So for me the 30 Luger is more accurate than a 9 mil...and I just built myself a nice 5 inch 30 cal Luger shooter for this season....
