There are some who used to believe that Brown Holsters were strictly for Luftwaffe use. This has mostly been disproven, as they were used by many branches. {{I am NO expert on holsters :D }}

Brown holsters were used for military and police in WW2 although black is the primary color you see. From Jan Stills book third reich lugers "Military holsters range in color from black to tan and are dated 1932 to 1944"

Jamese, This holster has the Heers Wa stamp on the back so it was accepted by the Army for it's use. Most holsters were black in color during this time period but a few escaped this awful fate. Jerry Burney

Based on what you are saying this is a keeper ? ...... its in great shape. W ould you know which units were issued brown or where could I find this type of information

Jamese, From what I can see it seems to be a collector grade holster. The brown color places a slight premium on it. If you are a Luger collector it would fit into any collection.There is no way to say for sure which unit this may have belonged to because of it's color. Only a unit mark could possibly provide this type of information.

I suggest you buy Benders book on holsters. Luger Holsters and Accessories. I have hundreds of dollars invested in books and that is what I recomend for anyone who is interested in this hobby. They will provide you with endless enjoyment and much information.They will almost certainly be worth at least what you paid for them if you ever decide to re-sell them so they are a safe investment.
