Is This A Luger Holster???
I got this holster with a byf 42 Luger, but no matter how many
pictures I've seen none seem to be quite like this, but a few are close. One I saw had the strap reversed of this one... Notice there are no markings... Any one know??? http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/Holster2.jpg http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/HolsterBack2.jpg |
I thought I'd seen one "like" it recently. This one ended on e-bay just the other day. And their description was, P-38, Luger or High Power...
http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/E-Bayauction.jpg Not exact, but fairly close? The back is even similar also. http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/Ebayback.jpg |
I am fairly certain that this holster is representative of the bulgarian type. I am pretty sure they were not made by the same manufacturer and so they have similar appearance but you will see a lot of variation in the details of their construction.
Jerry Burney (lugerholsterrepair) will probably be able to comment and expand on this theory of mine... |
Ive seen the holster below for sale recently and it was advertised as a Bulgarian Luger holster. I would imagine that one way to rule a Luger in or out would be to look at the top of the magazine pouch to see if it has a crescent cut out to accomodate the base of a Luger magazine. If it's straight across then it probably wasn't originally for a Luger. Others here will know better than me.

Its a Bulgar; no doubt about it...shoddy leather and shoddy craftsmanship. It has always seemed strange to me that as lovely as the Bulgar contract guns are -and they are both graceful and unique, their holsters are such POS. My first Luger was a Bulgarian...still regret trading it for the Python I took to 'Nam...

I concur. Above shown are WW2 era Bulgarian production. I have a couple in similar fair condition available @ $60 each. Tom H.
