HD?
I recently received in the mail my forth holster that Jerry Burney has repaired. As usual, excellent.
I assume, like other craftsman, Jerry didnâ??t start out at the top of his craft. Heâ??s worked hard, studied, improved with knowledge and practice and has now reached, IMHO, the pinnacle of his craft. Jerry also provides the Luger forum members a willingness to share his knowledge with us regarding what to look for in holsters so that we have some idea what an authentic holster looks like. This got me thinking. When a person reaches the top of their chosen field they sometimes are recognized with the addition of the term Doctor; e.g. M D, Doctor of Medicine; LLD, Doctor of Law; LittD, Doctor of Literature; etc. I submit to the Luger Forum for consideration and approval that based on experience, talent, craftsmanship, willingness to teach others, that Jerry Burney henceforth be recognized as HD, Doctor of Holsters. What say the Forum members? Tom |
Hi Tom,
I think my airborne comrade in arms is being damned by faint praise with the HD; he is in my estimation a Distinguished Doctor of Holsters. That would be HDD. My two cents... Tom A. |
Gentlemen, Surprised though I am, I do appreciate your efforts to elevate the station of this poor student of the lost art of German Saddlery. However, I have the policy of declining any honerary position that does not come with a raise in salary. As I must assume this raise will not be forthcoming due to budgetary restraints, I will continue to be your humble servant (sans initials) Jerry Burney
|
Jerry,
We are prepared to offer you a raise to exactly double what John Sabato gets paid for his services on the forum. Hows that for a deal? Tom A. |
Tom, What a piker! You know I deserve triple! Wait a minute...I'm not too good with math....Zero times zero equals.....I better be careful or I will get what I deserve.
John puts in much more skill and many more hours. Thank the good Lord we all have our place in the World. I am happy to occupy mine and I personally want to thank all of you who have put your trust and confidence in me. Tom Armstong was my very first client andf I wonder what he thought when he sent his holsters to me? Jerry Burney |
Hey Burney! Where the hell is my holster?
I know. If I wanted it yesterday, I should have sent it last week, huh? :p Congratulations on your honorary degree, and your raise. With them, and $1.50 you could get a cup of coffee anywhere in town. <img border="0" alt="[sleep]" title="" src="graemlins/sleep.gif" /> You're a great guy, Jerry. Thanks for being there, Ron |
Ron! Where the heck can you get a cup of coffee for only $1.50?
|
John , At the Mckenzie Cafe in beautiful downtown Springfield. Also the best bisquits and gravy, with eggs and hash browns, that you've ever had. The burgers ain't bad either. Cholesteral cuisine, at it's finest. :D

Hey Jerry, when are you coming by again? Ready to rust blue that Luger frame for you! Drop it off and lets have dinner together!
|
Ron, OK I will adda a buck fifty to your bill and have a delicious cup O Joe in my Kitchen! Your holster went in today's mail. Providing the PO is paying attention you should get it by Monday or so....
Will be coming by about the 10th, Sunday so I would like to get together with you and Don Hamilton. Think we could arrange that? If I were to leave here early Sunday I might stay overnight in Albaquerque(SP?) Let me know if this is possible? Jerry |
Be advised that the Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta will be in full force and there will be no hotel rooms to be had. You guys are welcome to stay with us Sunday night if you want!
