1935 "G" holsters
Jan Still, in Third Reich Lugers, estimates that over 54,000 "G" lugers were made in 1935. It is also known that 1935 dated holsters are very rare, one recently selling on e-bay for over $600. My question is: What markings were on those 54,000 plus holsters if not "1935"? Code letters were not until later? Was there a marked surplus of 1934 dated holsters that were used with the "G" coded P.08's?

I saw the latest 1935 holster, figure I trust the seller of the latest one...

Herb, in 1934 the Germans made way too many holsters. Since there was an overstock they simply shut down production in 1935. Codes were not ordered untill 1940 and even then some slipped by with maker marks. There are very few 1935 holsters in collections today and even fewer come up for sale.
I have one out of my collection on eBay right now. I do not have a G date pistol and I have heavily invested in Navy Pistols recently so either I sell a few things or Ellie is going to hurt me the next time I go to sleep! I have many holsters but am not necessarily a holster collector. Mostly I am interested in Imperial pieces. Navies are expensive...Ed, Thanks, It's a holster in nice shape. Jerry Burney |
Thanks for the info, Jerry. That 1935 holster of yours on e-bay is a beauty. The fact that it is yours makes me not doubt its authenticity. The Navy holster looks pretty good also.

Herb, I'm surprised, you do realize I make all sorts of stuff? Just kidding! It is a nice one...Did you notice the odd placement of the closure strap? I have seen others made this way but very few. It actually is more direct than the other way. Seems a better way to do it to me. Jerry Burney

has anyone seen the luger holster and belt on e bay? It looks good to me and if it works with my 1942 Banner L I would like to purchase it what would be a decent price This is Bob aka Cinder. The Cinder part was caused by my son's cat in the office when your board asked for a alais so I used the cats name Thanks Bob |
