Walther pp with orange stitching

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=36049 I hope the link works, on ebay a sale for a what looks brand new, a walther pp holster with orange stitching. Anyone ever hear of such a thing? I might bid on it as a repro holster but it looks too new.

Hello Charles,

Just a WAG, but the white stitching may have become "organge" from a too liberal application of brown shoe polish...

We have a "sister" PP/PK Forum (that is run by the owner of the Luger Forum...Mr. John D.) on which you might want to post, as well...as there are some PP/PPK experts that hang out there that may not frequent this Forum...

I am no authority, but I believe that orange stitching is attributed to the application of Mercurochrome to the thread, presumably as a preservative. Likewise, I am no authority on WWII holsters, but this one looks right to me.

cpgor, I have to agree with Ron, The holster looks original to me. His second point is valid as well, the stitching color may have been achieved by some outside colorant being applied. I can see one photo of the inside and the color appears to be a cream white. Orange thread was used mostly on WW1 era holsters and as Ron says it was a preservative to prevent microscopic infestation from rotting the thread.

You might ask the seller if the thread that can be seen on the inside is the same color as the outside. If it is different then some other source of color was applied to the exterior. Jerry Burney

cpgor, I have seen several unmarked late WW2 orangish leather PP size holsters with orange thread, that I also consider original. Th
