Luftwaffe Holster

Drop Eagle "2" inside with maker's marks, no date, that I can find. No markings externally. This was a black holster. Stitching has come undone on flap, crack in mag pouch. A candidate for Jerry? or leave as is? (this holster was black originally).

Hi Glen,

Can you photo the "drop eagle/2" markings from the inside...

Is it located on the inside, back panel...? Maybe an HK stamping...???

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Glen,

Is this one were mine...I would send to Jerry for a little stitching repair and then just apply some Hide Food to spruce up the leather a bit.

The wear from black to brown is part of the holster's history and I would leave it as-is...

Thanks for the added posting of the HK stamping...

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Glen, A very nice example! Beautiful stamp on the inside...Well used on the outside but not abused. Simply honest wear. Quite the valuble and sought after holster...Jerry Burney

Well Jerry, this is another fine mess you've gotten us into. Got time for a little stitching and conditioning? The threads are out about 2.5" across the top of the flap at the rear, both rows... I'm supposed to go down to see Ted shortly, to pick up my 1900 AE he's doing for me. Have you flown South for the winter? or are you still about the country? Perhaps I could drop it off? (btw, the audley you did for me fetched $298.00 on ebay a few months back).

Very, very nice....

My guess is that the manufacturers stamp - inside, left - top would be "ALBIN EGER - SCHMALKALDEN" (sp on last word, but I think it's correct?)and should be undated with the LWaA 2 (2nd Inspection Acceptance). They were typically issued with Krieghoff's in the 1942 & 1943 production years, but a few have been noted in later production as well.

As Jerry noted, yours look like an honest, field worn example in really nice condition..! Congratulations!!!!

Glen, Yes I have the time to do it if you like. I am building several Baby Luger holsters. One for Tom Armstrong's Son who is returning from Iraq and several to have on hand if someone wants one.I find they are much more economical time wise to make in a string.

Say hello to Ted for me when you get there. I am sure he did a beautiful job on your pistol.

Yes, I have moved to Yuma for the Winter. Got out of the Colorado high country and the cold. Quite pleasant here!

Jerry, look for it next week. I'll get it off in the mail to you Saturday USPS. If anyone observing this board has any German leather needing help, I cannot recommend anyone above or equal to Mr. Jerry Burney. His abilities to match, create and recreate are exceptional. Truly an excellent masterleathercraftsman. I wish I had taken before and afters of the Audley Woodsman holster. The C96 rig he made for me has left more than one "advanced" collector befuddled.

Glen, I agree. Jerry can make leather talk. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
