US Holster - Repro

I was not lucky enough to win this repro US Test Holster (left handed...) on e-Bay this week. Thought it might be worth $ 60 to win and see this one in person.

Back of holster stamped "4-3/4 luger"...and the maker's marking are similar to my 1970's LP-08 holster I picked up stamped with the SF Gun Exchange. Maybe the same leatherworks...

Lacking that opportunity, here are the e-Bay photos :

Anyone know more about these...???

Pete,
The holster is made by El Paso Saddlery, and they are still available (www.epsaddlery.com). They are virtually identical to the US Test holsters. Bob McNellis, owner of EPS (now deceased) repaired the stitching on an original holster for John Morgan. John permitted Bob to make a pattern from his holster, so the reproduction is quite authentic.

I purchased one of these from EPS several months ago for my 1900 AE. The quality is top notch.

Thanks for posting the photos Pete... how much did the holster go for on the auction, and Ron or Champ7fc, what does a new one list for from EPS?

Ron Wood 09-29-2004 10:32 AM

$75.00

Thanks, Ron...

I had forgotten about El Paso Saddlery...

Think I will contact them to see if they have a right-side carry version...

I might not mind having one of those for my 1900 AE when Thor finishes it. It's in the 10k serial range, so why not?

Pete, is the holster for a 4-3/4 barrel?

Pete Ebbink 10-15-2004 09:36 PM

Hi Wes,

My M1900 AE fit perfectly and the closure flap closed properly. I think the "P-08" stamping is a bit misleading.

Thanks Pete,

I have decided to purchase one. Thanks for showing your holster and congratulations on the find.

Another question: Is it lined or padded?

Pete Ebbink 10-15-2004 10:04 PM

Hi Wes,

I was trying to show the liner in my 2nd. to the past photo posted...not a very good shot, though.

It is lined...sort of with "kid glove" leather (lacking the right termonolgy...)...the type on soft, pliable work gloves...

The backsides of the closure stud and the belt loop rivots do not come through the liner. But they have stained the liner through to the inside of the holster cavity.

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />
