G.I. Luger Holster

Here's a custom made holster brought back by a G.I. It came with a Weimar army alphabet Luger. The workmanship is pretty good, but I know Jerry Burney could have done a much better job!

Aaron, please don't think me rude when I say that is one UUUUUUUUUUUUGLY holster!

The leather used appears to be of the same type that would hold a smaller pistol such as a PP or 38H Sauer or something along those lines.

I would like to see a picture of the Luger that's in it though.

I would imagine if the original owner had darkened the lacing, it would not be so obvious!

An interesting item to add to the collection.

I agree that the holster as it appears now is not very pretty. IMO the German craftsman never provided the lace, but I think the G.I. must have added the lace as soon as he got back to the ranch. The stitching is expertly done, and the original workmanship is excellent. Here's what the gun that came with it looks like. The serial number suffix is a "b" and the grip strap has the unit marking 6.D.10. which I have not researched. The chamber is dated 1921.

Aaron, the pistol itself is quite nice.... well worth keeping. The unit marking *may* mean "6th Dragoon Regiment, 10th weapon." A company isn't indicated so it may have been issued at HQ level of the regiment. As it's Weimar and not Imperial, it may have another meaning I'm not familiar with. Others on the forum may possibly be of more help. I'm glad you weren't offended by my remark about the holster. I'd be happy to have such a holster if a gun that nice were in it!
