How to explain Jerry's work Part One

I got home today to my wonderful bride and my HK holster back from lugerholsterrepairer. She'd opened the box, and said to me as I was examining the holster, "I don't see that he restitched anything, and he charged you $50.00 to boot."

I pointed out the original stitching. I pointed out where it had been replaced. "How can you tell?" she asked.

"Yes. That Jerry. What a huckster. Does these repairs, like restitching the flap and you can't even tell. But I'm kind of embarrassed not to send him a check. It would be admitting I couldn't tell the difference between 70 year old stitching and new stitching. The other members of my forum would think I was a fool. So I'll just pay him and keep my reputation."

Shame on you Jerry for doing such fine work. If I can't tell it's been restitched, my wife can't tell it's been restitched, then who will ever know that the seem was bad except you and me, and now the proof is gone! It might as well have never been coming apart in the first place.

Merry Christmas.

Ed. I have 2 items currently that he did for me. I sold the ideal hoslter, but I've been asked to buy it back and offered him half what I sold it for and he said he'd ship it (I've not seen it yet). I'll be selling the HK holster after the first of the year. We need to get together as soon as this holiday season is over with and all the traffic dies down in our respective households. Glen

All,

Without question, Jerry B is der ledermeister.
He is also, I am proud to say, an alumnus of our unit, the proud 173D Airborne and a solid citizen in every respect. He is a man I would trust with my checkbook, keys to my liquor cabinet and my daughter and then sleep the sleep of the worry-free.

Did I say that he is the best Luger leather repair guy on the planet and is ridiculiously inexpensive?

Hint follows for Jerry; Other forum members: DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING:

(Psst, Jerry: Raise the prices 2X and you will still be saturated with work, but you will get fair value for your exquisite craftsmanship. I'll gladly pay it and I'd wager, so would most of your other clients.)

Merry Christmas!

Tom A.

Glen, Ed, and Tom, Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot. I do my best to provide good honest work with a reasonable price. While the money provides for me and mine it is not the main reason I do what I do.

"He is a man I would trust with my checkbook, keys to my liquor cabinet and my daughter and then sleep the sleep of the worry-free." Tom, I have little interest in more money than will make me comfortable, keys to more than one house or car and I hate to admit it but I do not drink alcohol but your daughter? I could be trusted with her simply because I am an ugly old man.

Thanks fellows! Have a happy Holiday season!

Jerry,

My daughter is happily married and owns an Art Buchannan Baby Luger that I had made for her several years ago....

Sounds formadable. Every Woman should be issued a .38 snubnosed revolver at age 18 with a course on how to use it to protect herself in today's society. There would be a lot less mayhem and men would become gentlemen again. Jerry Burney
