swiss holster
I just received a 1906 Swiss Luger with a holster almost identical to the holster posted in the swiss forum by Mr. Ebbick. It does not have the strap, the condition is very good. My question regards the holsters care. The brass fittings on the holster show build up of a green corrosion. I would like to clean this off and generally spruce up the holster. I would appreciate some professional advise on this before I touch the Holster.
Thank you, Craig |
Craig, Please remove the vertigris carefully with an old rag without getting it on the leather, as it will stain leather and be a mess. Depending on the color of the leather: if dark, a liquid or paste perservative such as Lexol or Pecard, will help to keep it soft and pliable. If light russet, I don't recommend the above, as it will darken the color. TH

Hello Craig,
Following Tom's advice...I would only add that I do leave a bit of the vertigris on portions that are too hard to clean off...just to show evidence of some age. If you need to locate a strap for your M1929 Swiss holster, you could try Luger Forum member, SwissDaggers...who lives in Switzerland and has helped several members locate Swiss items : Stefan's web site is : http://www.swissdagger.com Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
