Oh! Oh!
Hi Guys,
Need your help on something. I store my holsters in airtight Zip-Loc Bags. I have noticed some little white spots on some of them. What is it, and what do I do? Thanks, TC |
The airtight ziplock bags don't breathe Tim. That will cause mildew or mold... you can count this as a bad thing. Store your holsters in a cool climate controlled place or if you must seal them up, use a dessicant package. Store them with bubble wrap inside and also some folded inside the belt loops to keep them from going flat from the weight of the holster.

Hi,
Actually - if the airtight bag had dessicant in it - wouldn't that prevent mold from growing? For us in humid or changing climates (NE would be one, as the weather goes from "hot"/"cold" - and lately seems to be pegged at "cold" :) ), I'm wondering how best to preserve the leather from molding as well?? Now - I'm not a leather guy - and only occassionly have a wierd holster - but I'd like to know as well.... (Yes - I read the Leather preservation link ) Jerry? Others? Comments?? Thoughts??? I know once mold appears, Jerry has "baked" his holsters ("Hi Honey - what's for dinner? Smells good ), but before the point of baking, any suggestions? |
