Re-Posted: Identification of Luger Holster & Belt

Gentlemen is anyone able to shed more light on the origin and date of this rather find Luger holster with belt. I am assuming that the Holster and belt is either French or Bulgarian although there is no cleaning rod slot alongside the spare magazine pouch.

Hello Charles,

From Eugene Bender's large book on luger hosters and accessories on page 73; this is a Bulgarian holster/rig for their M 1906 luger. It should have a pair of belt loops on the back.

Good luck on the auction... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Agree with Pete,

Its a Bulgar and they seem to have almost zero interest on the collector market. Were I you, I'd buy it cheap and see what happens in a few years.

Charles,

One collector. Mr. Chuck Whittaker, has a nice web site with one section dedicated to Bulgarian luger and holsters. You can see the Bulgarian link at the top of his home page at :

http://www.landofborchardt.com

Also check out the "Holster" section also listed at the top of the Home page in the "Accessories" selection button. There is quite a write-up about Bulgarian (and other) holsters...

Looks like your type of holster was made both for the M1900 and the M1906 Bulgarian lugers...

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your reply. I had a look through Mr.Chuck Whittaker's website and what a nice website it is too! Very informative with some lovely examples of Luger holster variations etc.

Kind regards

Charles

Tom,

Thank you also for taking the trouble to reply to my recent posting.

Whilst writting,I hasten to add that I am looking around for an original or good reproduction Navy Luger Stock board. If you happen to stumble across one in your searches, then please let me know.

Regards

Charles

Hi Charles,

I frequently (as in about once a year or so) run into *original* Navy stocks, but the price does seem to be getting steeper each time. I saw one at MAX three years ago and it sold for $1200 and it was dog-ugly but original.
Last saw one in very nice shape go at SOS in Feb for $2200...I have a couple of "extras" but I plan on keeping them in hopes that the matching gun will turn up...hey, stranger things have happened.
