Okay fellas, what is it?

I purchased an Imperial German Officer's photo album a while back and found a photo with a very interesting Luger holster in it...

Has anyone ever seen one like this before? I know I haven't...

And here is the zoomed in version:

No, almost looks kind of like a Bulgarian or what it really looks like is one of those 45 ACP Argentina holsters?

I lightened it a bit;

Ed, I don't know, but doesn't that look like a Luger magazine bottom sticking out of the mag pouch?

All,
It appears to be a variant Reichs revolver conversion that is mid transition; there were so MANY variants of transition holsters produced to support the war effort that anything like an orderly progression was simply not possible as there was NO plan.

I'd love to have my pal and former comrade in arms. Jerry Burney, weigh in on this as he is the real expert.

Tom, Thanks for the compliment but what I have learned has many times come from you. You probably have as many holsters as anyone I know.

I have to agree with Tom here. Looks like a Reichsrevolver holster converted to Luger usage. Not quite the full conversion seen later on.

Brandon, Any dates in the album you know of? Might give an interisting slant on things...

Tom, I wish I had seven thou I didn't need right about now, sounds like one hell of a Navy rig you have for sale...Jerry Burney

Could it be a holster for the Benke-Thieman shoulder stocked Luger? Luger-The Multinational Pistol...Page 161.

The Benke-Thiemann Shoulder Stock in question was a post-ww1 commercial item... that was not issued to the military to the best of my knowledge... of course that wouldn't preclude a military person from buying and using their own pistol...

... the photos that I have (see below) of the device show a holster of much different construction...but perhaps someone more knowledgeable about this device can comment...

Here is a short article on the device which unfortuately, I don't remember where it came from other than someone sent it to me...Click on the thumbnail image to see it full size so you can read it...

Does anyone personally know anybody that actually owns a Benke-Thiemann Shoulder Stock for a Luger?
