met the holster guy !

Went over to the VA Hospital in Denver and met Mister Jerry Burney (5th floor) and had a very nice chat with him and his lovely wife! :)

Very nice man, I figured that was true, but it is always good to meet someone in person.

His operation is tomorrow, and he is looking forward to it :D

Thanks Ed..!!!

My thoughts and prayers for Jerry tomorrow...

As a side note - folks on this Forum always amaze me.... Here are two folks that have forged a friendship over the Internet over the past years - and bonded that friendship in "virtual space". Honestly, that's what this site is all about. Who would have thought that a site would have one person posting he's going in for an operation, and another from the site - goes to visit..??.. Yes - it is amazing....

Ed, thanks for posting. Jerry is a class act. I wish him well.

All,
This forum is one of the finest experiences I have had in my nearly 60 years of breathing someone else's air. Jerry Burney is a *major* reason why I can say that. Between his excellent advice and counsel on Luger leather and John D.'s gracious support and assistance to me in entering the Krieghoff world, I believe I have gotten a great deal in this venue. Can't argue with the price!
There are some Luger afficinados that say we are not *serious* ; well, what constitutes serious? I think we do what is right and sociable and generally enjoy the virtual comraderie. Is anything else really necessary? Me thinks not.

Jerry B., my airborne comrade from battles long forgotten, I wish you a quick surgeon with a sharp knife and a speedy convalescence.

Your 173D Airborne Brigade comrade-in-arms,

Tom A.

Based on Ed's post, I looked up the phone number for the VA Hospital and gave Jerry a call. He was in pretty good spirits but really in a lot of pain. If you aren't in the habit of praying, perhaps you could make a little exception and ask that God see Jerry through tomorrow and get him back on his feet to enjoy life and Lugers again. He is a marvelous person and deserves as much happiness and friendship as we can offer him.
