04 Navy Mods
I am on the trail of what puports to be a 100% original '04 Navy. Problem is it appears to have been depot overhauled many, many DECADES ago (circa 1912). Does anyone have any info on this rehab program? Am going to cross post this on the "early lugers" section also; if this is a violation of Forum ettiquitte, eta cat, whatever, pls excuse me as substantial $$ is involved.

Never an etiquette breach when we are talking Lugers!
Good luck Tom!! Sounds interesting, I'd like to hear what you find out. |
Tom, (und Ed)
Could a pistol found in this pre-war refinished condition be the result of a single repair action rather than a rework program. Hypothetically... A gun taken to sea is neglected by it's owner for an unforgivable amount of time, or perhaps a part failure of major proportions. The seaman is disciplined for neglect (if applicable) and the sidearm is returned to the armorer for repair/replacement. Beyond his ability or tools, he writes a trouble ticket and forwards the weapon to the Navy Depot who ships it to DWM for rebuild and return... In the process it is refinished "as new" Was sagen sie mein Herr? Ist diese Geschichte nicht plausibel? |
