Navy Luger Cleaning Rods

Hello.
I am trying to find a ballpark value for a early pattern all brass zig-zag cleaning rod,one end of barrel is crown M proffed. Thanks in advance.

Regul,

You may have to spend $150-$225 for a genuine early pattern Navy cleaning rod with a grease reservoir - watch out for the fakes! If the brass rod appears to 'clean', I suggest that you keep on walking. The 'honorable Tom A' can give you the exact details to distinguish between an original and a fake.

The last "real" Navy Zig-Zag I saw sold went for $500. They are very hard to find and there are some fakes floating around, especially in the MIDWEST.

Tom, I like the way you phrase "MIDWEST". I'll bring both of mine to Richmond Saturday. The one for you also.

Tom,

For the benefit of the readers on the Forum, would you please post an image showing the difference between a Navy cleaning rod with a reservoir and the 'zig-zag' model/pattern you mentioned in your post. I am surprised that a Navy 'zig-zag' model sells more than a carbine cleaning rod.

Cheers,
Albert

I profess ignorance on this topic, so here goes a dumb statement. I thought that the military navy zig-zag cleaning rod has the wooden "rootbeer barrel" handle, some of which are Crown/M marked, while navy length cleaning rod with the grease reservoir is a commercial rod and has the spiral grooves rather than zig-zag.

Ron,

You are absolutely correct.
