Tom, those are some remarkable pictures.... especially the ones of the ships sinking. But what strikes me most is the difference between the young man's face in image 2 and image 15. The affects of his service are pretty plain. It would also be interesting to know what he did to earn the Iron Cross.

If I have some time between now and Sunday (Going boar hunting then!), I will post translations of the text accompanying each pic...
