dumb question #4,268

All Matching Navy Rig. No unit marks. DWM 1916. Includes holster, stock, 2 matching magazines, about 85% blue, 50% straw. No pitting (just holster wear). Small "Germany" in safety selector well. Is $2,700.00 too much to pay?

If original, I'll double your money.

Tom A.

Big Norm 12-17-2004 08:09 PM

Is the stock a navy stock and does the serial number match the Lugers serial number? Did the holster come with straps and stock iron cup? Is the navy holster original? Now that you have everybody sitting on the edge of our seats, hows about some pictures of your trophy?

P.S. forget Tom. I am better looking than him and deserve the gun more. :p

Edward Tinker 12-17-2004 08:16 PM

But, I'm closer, I'll give him half the amount!

:)

Eddie,
there's no such thing as a police navy luger so forget it. Besides, you Colorado people might have some sort of forest fire again and it might get destroyed. We Michiganders don't have to worry about forest fires, hericains or earth quackes, so we are in butter position to preservate history. If I knew what you looked like I would also probably be better looking then you too <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" />

I dunno Norm. I've seen Ed,it could be a toss up.

He's kind of a cross between Tom Selleck and Howdy Doody. :D

I'll be back down there next week and take a closer look at it, some pictures if the shop will let me. To be honest, I didn't have him take it out of the case, just asked him a few quick questions while I was gathering up a 1911 commercial circa 1913.

Big Norm 12-19-2004 12:41 AM

Hey trigger,
If this is truely all watching with two matching mags, then that alone makes it a very good price. It is not easy to find a navy with only one matching mag and this one has two. If the holster and stock are original and not repro then you have a tremendous bargain. The stock does not even have to match if it is an original navy. Original navy holsters are very tough to find. The trick is to make sure that everything is original. There are a lot of repro navy holsters and stocks. The price is almost too good.

I will repeat though. If this is an original, all matching navy with two matching mags, then this would still be a good buy on that basis alone. I will be eagerly looking foreward for pictures. I wish that I could be there with you to check it out.

I was pretty much in a hurry when I was in there the other day. He's had it awhile. I was just making conversation while we were waiting for Batf to call us back. There is an Arty rig complete with snail and loader and an Erfert there too. I have another pistol coming this week and will take a close look. The leather, holster and pistol through the case looked good, but I'll take me camera with me and examine it closely for you. Since Ed and I are in the same hunting grounds, I'm surprised he hasn't stumbled upon them.

Edward Tinker 12-20-2004 08:13 PM

Haven't found any "great" gunshops, maybe you can edukate me :D

Well Ed, it looks like you and trigger 643 are in the same part of the country. And so is Wes T. I think you should go find that gunshop and then let me know if you need some money. I can buy your Weimars.

I'm actually kind of dissappointed on the quality of gun shops here. I guess I got spoiled with hitting those little treasure holes in NW Louisiana, East Texas and S. Arkansas in my career. I remember when I was a kid here there used to be a great gunstore on S. Broadway had an entire case of lugers. They must have closed sometime in the early 80's, because I can't find them now (that's what I get for being gone for 22 years). My current job, in-between-interviews, gets me traveling around town and southern colorado, but other than the 1937 s/42 and HK holster, no real treasures have popped up with the exception of these possible pieces.

well. I looked closely. gun appears to all matched externally and original finish. No unit marks. 1 matching navy mag (eM on toe didn't show up well in picture, sorry), holster looks vintage, minor crazing, no marks I can see. stock doesn't look right to me. DWM 1917. No importers mark. Import mark is on an Arty. Two arty rigs. also two drums, loading tools. Two Erferts. One brown WW2 vintage. More pictures available. Stock, holster, gun, 1 matching mag $3,600.00 (the label for $2,700 was for the Artillery rig). You can PM me and I'll put you in direct contact with the seller.

Pete, when the weather is bad, I usually go there or K2 with their indoor range (K2's indoor range is 100 yrds and since they fixed the vent problem it is quite comfortable). Glen
