Good Navy Luger Book...?

Can anyone recommend a good book about Navy Lugers, besides the one by Goertz & Walter ?

Although their book is fascinating with historical info. and photos, it is not much of a newbie primer...

Any other good Navy books out there ? Ones with good photos showing features and details amongst the Navy models ?

Pete,
You probably already have a very good reference in your library. Although not devoted exclusively to Navy Lugers, Jan Still's books provide excellent pictures of naval variations including detailed shots of an honest-to-goodness 1904 Navy.

FWIW,

My unindicted co-conspirator Derek Seltzer and I have agreed in principle to do just such a book with a focus on both the pistols and the accoutrements as well as some of the history surrounding these wonderful pieces. We want to "Put a face on history".

Will be soliciting input in the form of SN, markings, pix, etc from the forum once we get sufficiently stable and organized to begin the effort.

Hello Ron and Tom !

Guess I had it too easy with the Bobba swiss luger book and the Gibson HK luger book; with their in-depth and detailed photos of right and wrong parts...

I do have all of Jan's 4 volumes which have helped as well.

I think Tom and Derek's Navy book will make a lot of $$$'s...! Look forward to its publication !

If we break even without having a basement full of unsold copies (Talk to Len Antaris about this...maybe even Jan, but I doubt it!) we will be happy. The object is not to make money; we do that in our day to day occupations. The object is to spread factual knowledge and hopefully keep our hobby alive. And there may be the slightest bit of ego motive also, eventho I have published before.

Tom,
Be sure to let me know when the book drops! I'll be one of the first to buy a copy!

Heinz and I are working on a navy pamphlet right now. It will be nowhere near the quality on a Jan Stills or, I am sure, a Tom A's book. What it will be is a copy cat version of a German pamplet that I bought on Ebay a while back. The pamplet was written in old German with Gothic style printing and was titled 'Piftole 1904'. (No, I did not spell that wrong.) Heinz has been busting his butt for about a month now translating it. (He had better be). I am not planning to add or subtract anything from what was written in about 1906 and reprinted about 1913. And I intend to keep the flavor of old German navy, curtious, technical writing. This may not be of much use to a newbie but Heinz tells me that it should be an interesting read of about 28 pages plus 2 pages of drawings of a 1908 navy. I have never done anything like this before and like Tom, I don't know how many pamphlets to make or how much to charge. My current plan is to make it available only to the forum.
