Thoughts on this Navy???
Hi all--
I've been thinking about purchasing the following gun. Just curious what you experts think of this piece? Much appreciated. http://www.phoenixinvestmentarms.com/06navy2d1.htm |
In the advertisment it does not mention that the gun is "original finish"......I would suspect that it may have been refinished at some point....if so,the value of the piece is greatly reduced!!
|
I took a good look at it and it dosen't look re finished to me. $6500 is a chunk O change....
If you just want a Navy this is a model that is really expensive. Tom Armstrong is selling off a few of his Navy pieces. You might check with him to see what he has just for comparison. He will steer you right, no question. Jerry Burney |
I agree, if you want a Navy, contact Tom A... you can be certain that you get exactly what you are hoping for... or Tom will tell you so...

My opinion, be careful with this seller. Actually, Iâ??d recommend you donâ??t do business with him. Once again heâ??s advertising a 98%+ piece. The photography is excellent in masking the real condition of the gun. I had a previous post, which I canâ??t locate, explaining how he didnâ??t honor a 3 day return for a purchase I made because of defects he didnâ??t list and the finish wasnâ??t, in my opinion, 98%+. If you donâ??t agree with his assessment he will not honor his 3 day return because heâ??s telling you in the disclaimer language that thatâ??s a subjective evaluation and heâ??s not shipping guns for folks to look at. I agree with previous posts regarding seeking others to buy from. The price heâ??s asking is pretty steep for something you canâ??t hold in your hands prior to committing to purchase.

It's very difficult to say whether the gun was refinished at some point. If it was,it was done very well. The only thing I'm sure is that the mag is a fake. The numbers are smaller in size as the original ones, the M-crown is also smaller it has to be,and the rings are different from the original ones. |
I believe Jerryâ??s assessment is correct. The gun has not been refinished. Take a look at the grip safety and youâ??ll see a large percentage of finish missing. Other shots that show the grip safety donâ??t reveal the same detail at a glance. One of the photos of the gun shows some discoloration on the barrel, this would be more obvious in different light and may not look as good as the photo. The lighting is the key. The photos are also copyrighted and protected so that you canâ??t download them and change the lighting to get a true picture of what is for sale. Believe me when I say the gun will not look like the pictures when you get it in your hands. Sorry if I sound like a sore loser, but if I can prevent one other person from getting taken by this sleazebag, Iâ??ll be happy.

Hey Tom,
There is an easy way to "strip" photos off this web-site...and others like it that try to copy protect... When you and I have a chance on Saturday down in Chattanooga, I will set up my laptop and show you. Here is the Navy magazine and stampings critiqued earlier... http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/16navmag.jpg Regards, Pete... |
Thanks Pete, looking forward to it.
