Odd 1920 Navy...?
Have folks seen such a chamber marking before...?
http://www.phoenixinvestmentarms.com/20navy.htm I was thinking the "period" should be a "comma" to be corect for the German numerical system. The stamping on the magazine base looks odd as well...maybe too new and not matching the "germany" stamping...? Regards, Pete... http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfuploa...ngwithhand.gif |
Pete raises several excellent points on this $6500 rework of the Weimar era. The stamping on the bottom of the clip looks very fresh (7.65) which is in contrast to the rest of the wear evident (e.g. the chip in the wood). The 7.65 stamp in the chamber has the appearance (IMO) of being added later? There is precedent, however, for 7.65 on the chamber, witness #196 (stock #3915) on Ralph Shattuck's latest Luger list #243. Weimar variations were numerous, why are so many surfacing now? One can only wonder and be wary.
