This one once was a 1917 Navy (Chamber Top and side) with a shorter replaced barrel C/N. It is all matching. It is not mine, I wish! I may have other pics. I was looking at it for a while, but I thought that the price was too high. I did not have anything else to compare with since it was the first time that I have actually seen one (other than books). I just want to share and hear your thoughts.
Thanks, Tony

Hi Tony,

An interesting Weimar conversion. This gun, from what I can see, is legit. I'd be proud to look at more of it and possibly add it to my collection assuming internals were up to snuff.

If I may ask, what was the asking price?

The asking price was $3600. I liked it myself, but the $$ was too high for me. Everything looked right inside and out. I think that the grips were right, but I dont think that they were marked. Also, I think that the witness mark were not perfectly aligned if I remember correctly. I have included more pics.

The gun came from the same collector that had the Fat Barrel that I posted earlier.
Thanks, Tony

Tony,

That gun is priced about $15-1600 too high. The Texan will die with that gun before he moves it at almost double its market value.

IMHO...and I am just guessing...but the side plate does not seem to match the gun. I understood only the early 1900 models have a side plate that has its upper, left hand corner (closest to the muzzle end..) very sharp and squarish...around 1906 and later, the typical upper, left hand corner is filed with a radius...

Shouldn't this one have the more rounded, cornered side plate...?

(Self-edited 1-5-04 : After Tony S. posted the follow-up photos, I got the answer to my concern...firt photo appeared to show something that is not there...)

Tom,
I agree with you as far as the price. Actually, I was guessing a value of about $1700 or so.

Tony,
I was being "generous" in my evaluation...I have purchased similar guns for $1500 within past 2 years.
