S/42 Magazine
For Tom A and any others who have not seen an S/42 marked magazine, here's one from my collection:http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/S42mag.jpg

And here is mine, although I have no idea what the "b" signifies!

Hi Guys,
I am guilty of not expressing myself clearly; what I was trying to say was I have not seen S/42 REPLACEMENT "Armorers" mags..lots of simple 42 codes tho. Thanks for the effort, tho! Tom A. |
Tom A, IMHO the 2 S/42 marked mags shown in the above emails were originally unnumbered when they left the Mauser factory and have been numbered to a particular PO8 (one with a B suffix serial) since. Most probably by a field armourer or some intermediate rework facility such as the police or army depot level. Tom H.

I agree; the second one is definately not a factory numbering job; the first one seems to be irregular also...
Tom A, |
I am also in complete agreement. I will go so far as to postulate that virtually any part on a Luger marked S/42 is an armorer's replacement, including toggles. I have an S/42 replacement toggle on a 1941 dated pistol, and the toggle has been expertly renumbered to match the rest of the numbers.
