Hi I am new in this forum.
I am from Argentina and I just have a Luger 1918 from my grandFather, I don�´t know to much of this pistols and I wanna know more of this gun.
I toked to a Gunshop today for ask some things, and they don�´t know much.
I wanna know wichone is de the serial number, becouse the only number that I found on it was a 65 L.

Bienvenido - You do very well in English Manuel, and you are not our first member from Argentina.

The serial number should be on the front of the frame under the barrel and should include a small letter suffix. The serial number should also appear on the left side of the upper receiver but without the suffix letter. This should be true of all military Lugers of that period. If the gun is a commercial gun, then there will be different marks.

There should be the mark of the manufacturer on the forward part of the toggle.

Do you have the ability to take digital photographs or a scanner? If you post photographs here on the forum we can tell you much about your Luger.

The photos should be of both sides and the top of the pistol. The photos should also be in clear focus.

In the Tecnical Information link on the left frame of this website you will find Identification sheets that will tell you where to look for stamp marks on your Luger. Find out all the information that these identification sheets ask and post the answers here. That will enable us to tell you much about your Luger even without photographs.

Welcome to the Forum! There are a lot of knowledgeable people on the Forum that can help with your questions. You have a very nice looking Luger.

I see that you are from Buenos Aires; I was there several years ago for about 1 month and enjoyed my stay very much. All the Aregentenians I met were very nice! I did enjoy the sights in Buenos Aires, especailly the harbor on the Platt River. I think I gained 10 pounds in weight from the wonderful food in your city. I have always wished that my work will take me you your country again. This would be great to meet you and talk Lugers.

Thanks everybody for the Warm Welcome, my first question is about the serial N�º.
Becouse in a GunShop told me that can�´t have just 2 numbers, they told me that have to be 4 digits serial number, and my pistol have just 65 l on the front of the frame under the barrel, and the same number in each parts of the pistol.
Someone can tell me if is OK just to have 2 Digits number.
In the marks page I saw the mar of mi pistol and is the 15. German military receiver proof. Found on DWM Lugers 1914-1918.

The gun shop hombre is wrong.

Military Lugers can have 1, 2, 3 or 4 digit serial numbers. They may or may not have an alphabetical (letter) suffix.

Thanks a lot for that Tom, my luger have a suffix, is L the number 65 L and have a 8.80 under the barrel that I supouse that is caliber in mm.

You are correct Manuel. The 8,80 is the bore diameter in millimeters.
