# is S22XX. Do I have an "old" Stoeger or has the production been that low? Is the Stoeger an "exact reproduction", what are the differences? As stainless steel has very different characteristics than carbon steel will I have any function problems? What do I need to know about this gun? Finally, there is not a decent gunsmith anywhere close to me(that I know of anyway), who can you recomend to polish the sides of the frame that were left matte or rough as cast to make the entire frame "gleam". Sorry if you have heard all these questions before. I am running out of space again. Thank You!

There are differences alright. The magazine has recently been discussed as a difference. I've noticed that the rear pin in the toggle is different. There are sorts of minor hidden differences, and not so hidden differences...

Actually, the "space" limitation is not just in this block.

As you can post and the block will look like it is full, but it isn't. :D Oh, and you can use the POST Response instead of the quick response area of the page, for additional options.

A word of caution on polishing the matte parts of the frame. Quite a while back somebody posted that they had polished the entire gun and regretted it because it was too reflective. I have no personal experience so cannot give any other advice on this.

I have seen pictures of some of the toggle parts mixed with vintage. If your magazine looks like a vintage, it should be interchangable. If the sides are flat, it is not.

I stopped experimenting when I put a stainless top assembly on a 1970's frame and then spent the better part of an hour getting it apart!

Thanks for the replies. I have decided not to polish the frame as the pistol is beautiful as is and I don't want to mess with it. All further posts from me will be on the Post WW II board as this seems the best place......untill I get another Luger.
